Something Borrowed: Cake Topper

According to The Knot the tradition of something borrowed comes from an old English rhyme: “Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, and a Sixpence in your Shoe.” Specifically, carrying something borrowed represents borrowing the happiness of others as you start your married life together. Here is a “something borrowed” idea:

Cake Topper: Cake toppers can sometimes seem cheesy, but a vintage cake-topper, especially one borrowed from a relative, can add a retro-chic flair to your cake. To clue in your guests you can also include a picture of the couple whose topper you are using cutting their wedding cake on the table where your cake is displayed.
