Teacher brides take note, the below picture is just one idea of how you can showcase your career at your wedding and also a fun way to make guests use their brains! Buy old fashioned flashcards, addition, subtraction, multiplication or division will work, and place one card at each table as the table number. Then make a standard seating chart using numbers. When guests see that they are at table five they will have to use their basic mathematic skills to find their table. To help guests understand the concept think about using a clever poem like the one we came up with!

Wedding Theme Thursday: Chalkboards
When you hear about chalkboards being used as decoration for a wedding many people may think of the green variety that hung at the head of their elementary school classroom. But some people fail to see the possibilities with chalkboards; they can be used tastefully throughout your wedding decor to add a special touch. Below are some of my favorite ways to use chalkboards. Enjoy!
Place Cards: Put guest names on mini chalkboards and place them at their seat. You can paint any surface with special chalkboard paint and it instantly becomes a writable surface. Pictures: The Knot; Posh Posada; The Connecticut Wedding Blog; Pottery Barn

Table Numbers: Many gardening stores carry chalkboard stakes that can easily be repurposed as table numbers for little cost. Pictures: own; Style me Pretty; The Knot
Menus: I think everyone appreciates dinner menus as they allow guests to see the details of what they are about to eat! If making individual menus seems too time consuming, just make one menu board and place it in the cocktail area for everyone to see. Directions: This is a great way to tell guests where they need to go and what they need to do while at the same time looking adorable! Pictures: Style Inspired; Snippet and Ink; Green Wedding Shoes

Seating Chart: No need to stress if you have to move guests to different tables, just wipe the name off and rewrite, genius! Pictures: The Connecticut Wedding Blog; Once Wed
Cute Ideas: These are some cute ideas that didn't fall into a category: use chalkboards to display sayings throughout your day; chalkboard decals with frame like details add more glamour than traditional chalkboards; place many chalkboards together and write a poem that is placed behind the bar for guests to see; give guests something to do during cocktail hour with a word search- it's also a great way for families to mingle. Table Numbers
What a great way to inform guests about their seating arrangements at the reception- using patterns AND numbers! If you pick different but coordinating patterned fabrics, each reception table could be dressed in a different fabric. Then you could make escort cards with the corresponding table fabric and table number. Just another way to make your wedding unique and creative!

Table Numbers: A Trip Down Memory Lane
I recently attended a friends wedding with a unique twist on table numbers and table decorations. There were several clear frames surrounding each number on the center of the table. In the frames were pictures of the bride and/or groom at the age corresponding to that tables number (so table 3 would have pictures of the happy couple as toddlers).

This idea is simple to execute, inexpensive, and will personalize the reception decorations for you and your guests, not to mention providing much delight and occasion for future ribbing from the guests seated in the teens...

DIY Wedding Idea: Post-it Notes
Post-it Notes as place cards?! What an ingenious, inexpensive and creative idea! Also, if there are any mistakes or you need to move people around to different tables, all you have to do is make a new Post-it. Love it! If you don't want to go with traditional yellow Post-its, there are a myriad of colors, shapes and sizes to choose from!
