Friends Friday: Do-It-Yourself Elisa and Bob

Elisa and Bob’s September nuptials were definitely a Do-It-Yourself Wedding from the veil Elisa made herself to the wooden cake stand Elisa’s dad made in his workshop to the wheat centerpieces that were grown on Elisa’s parent’s farm; all the homemade details added to the simple, elegant, rustic feel of their day.

The day before the wedding Elisa and Bob painted homemade signs to direct guests.

In high school Elisa worked at an apple orchard so it was fitting that she used apple bags for her hotel bags. To add a personal touch, Elisa included a letter giving her guests a list of her and Bob's favorite things to do in the area.
Elisa's vibrant, fall wedding color was inspired by a bottle of nail polish she found on vacation. She was able to find ribbon and a stamp in the same color and used these two items throughout her wedding to tie all the elements together. As favors Bob's mom made over 200 buckeyes, what a delicious idea!
Elisa and Bob were married outside under the oldest oak tree in Ohio. The "old oak tree" was a big element in their wedding and they wanted to show it off in their invitations. Elisa worked with an invitation designer who took a photo of the oak tree and incorporated it into the invitations. Elisa and Bob have since framed the photo and it hangs in their house.

Elisa's something blue was a handmade hanky.
To save money, Elisa bought the sample of her strapless, sweetheart neckline, lace dress and had her aunt do the alterations and bustle. Elisa made her own veil and wore the same pearl necklace her mother wore on her wedding day.
Growing up on a farm, Elisa's family had a lot of mason jars around the house. Elisa collected them, tied wedding ribbon on and hung them on Sheppard hooks to line the aisle.

Elisa and Bob's cake was very simple, it was made by a local bakery and garnished with fruit Elisa bought at the market the day before her wedding. The cake stand was handmade by Elisa's dad.
After Elisa and Bob decided on a barn wedding, Elisa's dad planted wheat and white pumpkins on his farm to be used as centerpieces. They also used additional mason jars, topped with wedding ribbon, filled with candles to add a glow.
Instead of throwing flowers, the flower girl and ring bearer tossed fall colored leaves.

To use up the rest of her wedding ribbon, Elisa suspended the place cards with ribbon and secured them with clothes pins.
Elisa and Bob's barn wedding was family oriented filled with personal details and Elisa chose a great photographer to capture it all! Thank you to Elisa and Bob for sharing your special day and thank you to Considering Lilies Photography for the amazing pictures!
