Supplies: dowels (find at the craft store or cake supply store), jump rings (find in the jewelry findings section, screw eyes, ribbon, mini bells (optional).
A few tips before you get started:
- I found it easier to do each step in phases (ie: cut all the ribbon, screw in all the eyes etc.)
- This project while definitely doable is also somewhat high maintenance. For the low-maintenance instructions, skip to the end of this post.
Step 1: Twist one screw eye into one end of each dowel. I found that slightly thicker dowels were easier to work with as they were less prone to splitting. Also screwing in the eyes is easier if you poke a starter whole in with a nail and use a pair of pliers to help you twist (also much easier on your fingers). Don't worry this is the hardest part of this project!
Step 2: Thread a mini-bell onto a jump ring, then hook it onto the screw eye and squeeze closed.
Step 3: Take several cut strands of ribbon (I cut mine approximately 2 feet long), pull through the jump ring and tie.
You're done!
Now for the low maintenance version - if you don't feel like taking the extra time to use the bells you can also just tie strands of ribbon onto the top of each dowel - simple as that and will achieve a similar effect as you make your grand exit!
Yay! Thanks for posting. Can't wait to try this out!
